Seeking a Coconut Free Shampoo, Conditioner, Soap and showergel

Today I am looking for help.

I’m wondering if anybody can suggest a shampoo, conditioner and shower gel that would be suitable for my two year old daughter who has developed a serious allergy to coconut and coconut derived ingredients.

Unfortunately as you can see from the list below this excludes a lot of traditional ingredients in ‘cleaning’ products such as the Laureth Sulfates.

Her allergy has escalated from being triggered by eating coconut ingredients to the point that now she starts exhibiting symptoms if an ingredient touches her skin, even diluted in a bath!

I have emailed LUSH and The Body Shop today and will publish any reply for the benefit of others.

LUSH replied with the following:

I have looked into this and unfortunately all of our shampoos contain Sodium Laurel Sulphate. This is something that we are working hard to remove but currently there isn’t anything suitable.

I’m pleased that they replied but sad that there is nothing suitable for my daughter.

Hi. We avoid coconut too, although the more processed the ingredients the less we all react to it so we don’t avoid everything on your list. I was going to suggest Lush , Suma, Faith or Weleda as possibilities.

I started using Penn’s Hill soap because of my nut and coconut allergies. It is made in Pennsyvania and contains olive oil and water. That’s all that’s in it! My skin improved so much within the first week after removing all other soaps. Now, I only clean with witch hazel and Penn’s Hill liquid soap (order on Amazon or thier website). It’s not cheap, but it beats the alternative of living with itching, burning, bleeding, cracked, and raw skin. I hope you find something that works for you.

Clean Kids Naturally has a shampoo, conditioner, soap and bubble bath. They are available on Amazon and Vitacost. I have a coconut allergy and my entire family uses these!
